Focusing on developments in China's international relations, cultural influences, economic and political stability, and demographic trends, we will attempt to predict if, when and where China would engage. The goal of this project is to identify landmarks that will highlight China's trajectory now and in the future.

Recent Developments

-China shoots down own satellite. It serves as a demonstration of China's interest and new prowess in space-military technology and could start off an extra-planetary arms race with the United States. Most significantly, the US military relies heavily on satellite surveillance in its missile defense system and if China has developed the sophisticated technology to destroy defense satellites it could, theoretically, seriously compromise US security and, more immediately, its ability to fend off attacks against Taiwan. The US and EU have voiced tactical complaints against space debris.
